SREE KRISHNA - SERIES
Sreekrishna series is one off the ambitious project on which I am working now. Sculptures varying from 1/6th to 1/3rd scale portraying Krishna’s life from a toddler to adult is being worked up on in this series.
Over centuries artists and artisans creating sculptures and paintings of Krishna traditionally in different styles and Life of Krishna is a phenomenon still inspiring artists to sing, dance, paint and sculpt.
The Sree Krishna Series, which I am working mainly highlights the detailing of Krishna’s physical anatomy which makes Krishna's imagery into a real human being with out loosing the aesthetically beauty of how Krishna is been visualised in traditional Sculpture and painitngs over the centuries.
When we go back in time that is during indus valley civilization the first sculpture found was a dancing girl, in bronze.Dance is an art of rythamic movement, it was always a challenge for the sculptors to capture the graceful movements into a steady epitome of beauty. Out of personal and to take up the challenge that has been following through generations of sculpting I have tried to bring out the aesthetics of dance in this series.
The idea of doing this series I got almost 3 years back while reading OSHO's Books "Krishna", "Gita Darshan" helped me to understand Krishna in depth. Being an artist I am always inspired to create realistic sculptures where I have an opportunity to create emotions and expressions as real as how it is. I would say it is the most difficult task and If I could transcend the realistic human emotions through my sculpture, that would be thing which i expect to achieve through my art. Here I am trying to visualize Krishna as real and trying to portray his gracefulness, beauty and divinity through my art.
BALA KRISHNA
This is the first sculpture of Sree Krishna series. Clay modelling is completed using polymer clay. Sculpture will be molded and casted in metal soon
The little Krishna would be standing with right leg on air and begin dance by playing his flute with full of ecstasy ,joy and innocence of a little child. The flute of Krishna which mesmerizes everyone in this has been depicted with the symbolic mudra from bharathanatyam. The ornamental designs are created getting inspiration from the intricate stone carvings of 12th century Hoysalewara temple.
